Muerte's Halloween 2004 by workshop Muerte's Halloween 2004 by workshop
Say hello to Muerte!

Actually, it is Quinn from Campus Safari and Akaelae making her annual halloween appearance. This year she is dressed up as a witch. And just in time before the weekend, perfect! This picture took a while to make, lots of rough sketches were made, but I eventually ended up with this one just this week. Basically I've been working on it since tuesday. Coloring this took the longest time, trying to set mood with colors ain't easy but I'm content with this.

Anyway, enjoy! And there will be a wallpaper edition later so stay tuned.

Campus Safari and Akaelae comics are located at Shivae Studios: [link]

Gross, furries. Your talents are being wasted on such an adolescent subject matter.

I'm interested to know why the subject matter of adolescence is wasteful for someone like me. Could you please explain further with what you mean?

An adolescent subject matter, by its nature, means that it is immature and not worth your time.

I know what adolescence means, I'm just not clear on why you believe it isn't worth my time.

Because you're a fucking 24 year old. Jesus I've met fifteen year olds who are older than you.

To be honest I am actually 26 years old now. I am also mature enough to have a major in computer science and a girlfriend. I'm sorry I cannot be any more mature than this with my art. To my defense I started out as a comic artist and painter and I never cared for attaining respect from colleagues.

Your behavior of acting like a rude elitist jerk with no respect for peers is in itself immature.

Wow. :omg: Great mood, fantastic lighting, and an awesome smooth technique. I can feel the slight chill in the air against the warmth from the cauldren.

Beautiful in every sense of the word

Now THAT is a cute and cool Halloween picture! Your coloring style is excellent. You're able to softly accent the lighting to give that 'in the light of the moon' look. That's tough to do somethimes. Well done!!

Thanks. I try my best at coloring considering I really sucked at it on grade school... *shudders at the horrors of tasteless combinations of colors he made back then*

Oh my god, I just love it... The detail is fantastic, it looks so much like a painting.... The lace on her top and the way her eyes stand out so well particularly rock.

I dunno if I'll do ShivaeStudios related art for Christmas. Last year I was too tired to do anything from all studying. It is too early to speculate in any now... I certainly have no idea what I would draw for this christmas.

wow thats beautiful. the only thing that bothers me is the way the flames on the candles look. they don't really look like actual fire. maybe if u were to use the smudge tool and smudge teh tips upwards a bit it might give it more of a fireyfeel.

:iconworkshop:

I didn't want to have the candle flames stand upright since I thought it made the picture look static. The flames are too big to come from a candle anyway, so it isn't that big of a deal to have realistic candle lights imho.

Oh my, that's quite a creative 'coon. :giggle: I love the lighting; the candles, the moon and the cauldron all look really neat in that dark blue night. She herself is quite the lovely lady, I must say, and her expression is just a tinge on the wicked side. ;P All in all, this is quite lovely, and one of my favorite Halloween pictures. Great work.

Critique:
I dunno; is it me, or are her shins just a bit on the short side?
Reply
:iconworkshop:
workshop Featured By Owner Nov 1, 2004  Hobbyist Digital Artist
They are short... the whole shins and boots thing was quickly made and I had no reference to go after. So your critique is legitimate and I thank you for it. :3
